Jump In A Pool: Raise Money For Charity!

Garrett is raising money for pregnancy and infant loss charities by competing
in the 20km Swim Around Key West and needs your help

Penguin Maeve: Our Official Mascot

On June 4th at Asbury University in Wilmore, Ky., Maeve’s dad will be swimming for nearly 4 hours as part of his final preparation for the Swim Around Key West and we’re looking for people to cheer him on while raising money for charity.

Swimmers and non-swimmers of all ages can participate:

  • Splash around in the shallow end – 3 lanes will be open for families to wade around and play games.
  • Warm up for summer swimming – 4 lanes will be open for lap swimmers who want set a goal of 30 minutes.
  • 1-hour or 2-hour racing – The same 4 lanes will be open for swimmers who want to push themselves for an hour straight, or reach the ultimate Swim-A-Thon achievement of 100 laps in under two hours.

Lap swimmers can choose a morning or afternoon start and will send off in 30 minute intervals.

You can sign up by donating directly to Miles with Maeve, or by creating a personalized fundraising website of your own to ask your friends and families to be awesome and support you.

Your generous donations will go to help families who’ve suffered a pregnancy or infant loss.  Nearly 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss so sadly there are millions of people in this country who are trying to cope with this tragedy.

  • What’s a Swim-A-Thon?

The Swim-A-Thon is a USA Swimming sanctioned event where swimmers try to complete as many laps as possible in a set period of time.

We want competitive and recreational swimmers (plus those who like to wade around in the shallow end) to feel welcome so we are offering 4 options:

    • Splashers – For a donation of $10 you can splash around in a free-swim area
    • Swimmers – For a donation of $50 try swim as many laps as possible in 30 minutes
    • 1-Hour Racers – For a donation of $100 challenge yourself to go an hour straight!
    • 2-Hour Racers – For a donation of $150 go for the greatest Swim-A-Thon achievement of all: 100 laps in under 2 hours.  We believe in you.

Or feel free to show up, sit in the bleachers, and go RAH!, RAH!, RAH! for 5 hours straight.

  • When Do I Show Up?

Saturday, June 4th.  On-site registration will start at 10:00 am and the first swimmers will hit the water at 10:30 am.  New waves start every 30 minutes.

    • Splashers can show up at any time
    • Swimmers and Racers can choose a morning (10:30 – 12:30) or afternoon start (12:30 – 2:30)

We will slot Swimmers and 1-Hour Racers at various times based on lane availability.  2-Hour Racers will start at 10:30 or 12:30.

  • Where Do I Go?

The pool is inside the Luce Physical Activities Center on the campus of Asbury University and free parking is available right next to the building.  550 W Main St, Wilmore, Ky 40390 will get you there.

  • What’s In It For Me?

Miles with Maeve swag of course.  There will also be give-a-ways from TYR, Infinit Nutrition, and some of your favorite Lexington area establishments.

If you are a high school, college, USA Swimming, Masters, or triathlon club team member, we want to thank you for your support and will share a portion of funds raised to a cause meaningful to you.  Do you need new team apparel; let’s talk.  Do you want to donate the whole lot to us; we wouldn’t say no!  Is there another charity you’d like to honor; we’d be happy to help.

    See, we’re pretty flexible.
